It will take time to complete an operation and hovering over the operation on the map will show how much of the operation has been completed by percentage. You can turn these on and off as you please but they do come in handy. On the left-hand side of the screen, you’ll find icons for Headquarters, Show Victory Objectives (which will show you the scenarios objectives), Show/Hide Weather (keep a butcher’s on the weather as it can affect your units), Show Next Operations on Hover, Display Supply Capacity, Display Air Superiority and Change Map Style. This will then have the enemy perform their actions, after which it will return to your next turn. Performing these actions will cost you an action point, and after you have used all your action points for all groups and operations you will have to end your turn. Depending on the type of unit, you will have different actions that they could perform you could send them scouting, breakthrough, blitz, entrenchment, go to the front etcetera. This information isn’t always available, and you might have to uncover it before you decide how to act. Selecting one of yours or an enemy’s units will give you some information on them, such as the number of tanks, artillery, trucks, troops, the unit’s Generals status and the unit’s experience, fuel and ammo. Air bombardments are good for softening up your enemy, pinning them back while you push forward with your ground troops. Selecting an enemy unit will detail any possible actions you can perform these could be Air Bombardment, Ariel Recon, Air Superiority or Strategic Suppression. You will be able to select your forces and current operations on the map, and once selected you will see the units and enemy units at the current location. The position of your forces on the map will depend on which scenario you play. The game plays out with you looking down on a map of Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. I would have preferred a more hands-on tutorial rather than one that you read, but that’s just me. There is quite a decent read-through of the tutorial and wiki to help you play the game. It might be an idea to go over the tutorial so that you can learn how the game plays. It will require a specified number of victory points to obtain a victory in any scenario. There will be one main objective that will give you the most victory points, with the others having lower victory points. There will be multiple objectives which you can try to complete and each one will have a number of victory points that you will gain upon completing that objective. After deciding which scenario to play, you will have the scenarios’ objectives displayed. To help you decide which one to play there is some information on each of the scenarios. The other scenarios are Kharkov-Kerch (Early Stages), Fall Blau, Edelweiss, Uranus, Wintergewitter and Stalingrad. Next you can choose your Scenario there are seven scenarios, however one of them, Th Grand Campaign, is currently locked. ![]() The game’s difficulty (Normal, Hard and Harder) is next along, check boxes for extras options for Display Designer’s Note, Green Buttons for Historical Choices, Show Next Operations on Hover and Display Actions Tooltips on Hover. Starting a new game will allow you to choose which side to play as, the Germans or the Soviets.
